chapter 19 and 20

in chapter 19 and 20 you can tell that Holden really cares for phoebe by the way he talks to her. They have a very close relationship, you could tell that when every he talked about her though out the book. Phobe is the only girl that holden really cares for in this book. Holden tries to connect with phoebe by sneaking in the house at night and only wanting to talk to her to see how she has been doing. " I went around the room, very quiet and all, looking at stuff for a while. I felt swell, for a change. I didn't even feel like i was getting pneuomonia or anything anymore. I just felt good for a change" (Salinger 159)

Should I

Should I get Married?
Am i getting married because
it's just the things to do today
every body else is doing it!!
What will they say if I am all alone
I see people getting married
day in and day out
I also hear about marriges
not lasting long
I don't wont to be
just another statistic
I would want my marriage to last
I want to have a family
that loves each other
and always be together
no matter what we face
because i didn't conform
and i went at my own pace
to find that right person my own perfect fit
Love is like a maze easily lost and hard to find
it started with a kiss and ended like this
Should i get married?
Everybody else is doing it
what will they say if im all alone
all alone just waiting here
waiting for that beautiful day to come
How long will it take
will that day ever come?

chapter 16-18

After choosing your quote and copying it on your blog, describe and answer the following three questions in your analysis:1. What does it say? (paraphrase and describe the context)2. What does it mean? (analyze and explain)3. Why does it matter? (explain the significance to the rest of the book)

"I swear to God I'm crazy. I admit it" This is saying that holden knows that he is crazy with out a doubt becuase of the things that he does and his thoughts. This means that Holden knows that something is wrong with him, we have been thinking something was wrong with him since the third or fourth chapter in the book because of the way he handles things in certain ways. I Don't think it would matter alot because alot of us already thought he was crazy, so Holden saying that just makes what we think true and he is really crazy . so now we might look at the book in a different way now that we know that he his crazy for all we now he migh be in a hospital

option 2

Holden i think does have a lack of respect to authority, because holdens wants to do whatever he wants to when he wants to without listening to anybody else. Holden does have a lack of motivatioin i think. the reason why de doesn't have motivation is because he doesn't have anybody around them that can relate to him, i think another reason why is not motivated is becuase of the death of his younger brother Allie. This applies to today because you have people in every high school that is not motivated to do something because they might think that anyboy cares or have nothing to stive for, or they just don't really care about school and just want to get if over with. I think students might suffer because parents and teacher sometimes do not listen to what they have to say sometimes. Is this just a faze that students go through in high school or will they ever grow out of it.

chapter 5 response

After reading chapter 5 I see that Holden has a younger brother that was two years younger than him. What I learned about his brother Allie is that he was a very intelligent boy that Holden cared about very much. but on July 18 1946 Holden's life changed. On this day little Allie died of leukemia when they were up in main. I think the death of his little brother changed Holden Attitude about things. For example Holden slept in the garage the night Allie died and he broke all the window, I think he had so much emotion that was build up inside of him that he did not know what to do so he thought breaking the window might let some of the pain go away. How would you feel if someone that was very close to you died.

first impressions of Holden Caulfield

My first impression of holden Caulfield is that he dosent care what anybody thinks, he always speaks his mind. I also think that he is kinda of funny because of the things that he says and the thinks that he thinks.

pre-reading question

3. Explain two struggles you or others face as you/they move from childhood to adulthood.

i think one struggle is knowing what you want to do with the rest of your life for the rest of your life, because growing up might be scary to some people. Another one would be making a transition from living with your parents to being on your own because your parents aren't going to be there to tell you what u can and can do so you have to make the decision for yourself.
