first impressions of Holden Caulfield
My first impression of holden Caulfield is that he dosent care what anybody thinks, he always speaks his mind. I also think that he is kinda of funny because of the things that he says and the thinks that he thinks.
:) He definitely doesn't care what anyone thinks. He speaks his mind to his peers, but I think he sort of holds back when it comes to authority figures.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and haley... he does indeed speak his mind... some of the time. Other times, like when he was visiting with Mr.Spencer he keeps a lot of his thoughts in his head, and just tells Mr. Spencer what he wants to hear so he can get out of there. Like hals said, I think he holds back his thoughts when talking to authority figures.

I dont think it makes him a phony... everyone does it, whether the admit it or not. I think if mr. Spencer wasn't an adult he probably would speak his mind about what hes thinking. But because he is an adult he's showing respect and just dealing with it, and keeping his thoughts in his mind instead of saying them.
